While we enter in 2025, technology continues to reshape our world in a way that would have been science fiction just a few years ago. Nuclear installations fed by AI to invisible intelligent assistants who anticipate our needs, the technological landscape of this year pushes the limits of what is possible. Let’s explore ten of these trends.
1. Nuclear energy for AI infrastructure
Nuclear energy should dominate in 2025, with an increasing interest in clean and reliable power to meet the increasing energy demands of AI and high energy technologies. The massive energy needs of Ai push the giants of technology to nuclear solutionsStimulate investments in reactor innovation and waste management, because renewable energies are insufficient.
2. AIATIC AI
Gartner named Agentic The higher technological trend for 2025. The term refers to the “agents” of the autonomous machine which go beyond the functionality of request and response of generative chatbots. These agents can carry out tasks related to the company independently without human intervention.
Some common AI agent applications include:
• Autonomous cars.
• Automation of robotic processes.
• Virtual assistants.
3. Neuromorphic computing
Neuromorphic computer science is an innovative approach to calculation that imitates architecture and functionality of the human brain.
Unlike traditional IT architectures, which treats sequential information and is often limited by energy and speed limits, neuromorphic systems are designed to process information in parallel, just like neural networks in the brain.
Neuromorphic computer uses brain forces using an architecture where chips act as neurons. The result is a quantum jump in performance.
4. Synthetic media
The synthetic media refers to multimedia platforms which present content created exclusively using AI.
In mid-October, the radio station off the coast of Radio Cracow presented Three hosts created with the help of AI. Virtual advertisers EMI, Kuba and Alex were programmed according to the description made by editorial journalists. The appearance of these hosts was supposed to attract a young and active audience, but in fact, it caused A mixed reaction.
As a result, a week after the virtual advertisers are closed, the experience was closed. Some analysts are sure that it is only a trial stage, and next year, we will intend to talk about new synthetic media creating and distributing AI content.
5. Extended reality (XR)
By 2025, I believe that XR will have a deep impact on education, training, retail and entertainment.
For example, students will immerse themselves in historical events by virtual reality, while augmented reality will allow technicians to carry out complex repairs with real -time digital overlays. This progress will blur the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds, creating more engaging and effective solutions.
XR combines VR reality and mixed reality (MR). I expect this technology to be the most requested in the fields where the cost of human error is too high. With the appropriate development and distribution level, XR will optimize not only training costs, but will also considerably improve its quality and the level of engagement of new employees.
6. Micro LLMS
Micro-LLMs represent a new direction in the treatment of natural language which focuses on the creation of compact and effective versions of large languages models without considerably compromising their capacities.
These models are suitable for environments where calculation resources, storage or energy consumption are limited, such as mobile devices, EDGE IT or real -time applications.
The creation of micro LLM for specific tasks can considerably simplify access to the capacities of the very developed generative AI, including for averages and small businesses.
7. Post-quantum cryptography
Alphabet unveiled its own quantum processor of 105 qubit called Willow. The company says it can solve a problem in five minutes that would take the fastest computers today Septillion.
The willow’s chip is a major step on a trip that started over 10 years ago. The Google research team has drawn a long term roadmapAnd Willow moves us considerably along this path to commercially relevant applications.
In the midst of this, market players are talking more and more about the “post-quantum” era, when quantum computers can easily break current encryption methods.
8. Hybrid IT systems
Hybrid IT systems combine various types of computer systems, such as traditional / network, cloud, edge (for example, to collect data from surveillance cameras), quantum and neuromorphic – to perform tasks in collaboration.
These systems optimize the execution of complex tasks by distributing the workload on different computer components. However, the very complexity of hybrid models can become a drawback. If the model is poorly designed or if the tasks are allocated ineffective, it can cause delays or operational failures.
9. Spatial computing
If different platforms can interact within hybrid systems, the symbiosis of advanced computer systems (VR, AR, AI and IOT) with humans is called “space IT”.
Apple published its first gadget in the Space IT segment in February 2024 – Vision pro moles – and I expect other companies to also start to bring their competing devices on the market during this new year .
This market includes devices and components necessary for human interaction with a virtual digital environment, such as:
• Sensors and cameras with AI technologies.
• Corresponding software.
• Video mapping (a three -dimensional projection on a physical object of the environment, taking into account its geometry and its location in space).
• Human-Computer interaction systems (vocal commands, gestures, students’ movements, touch, etc.).
• Authorization and automatic learning systems.
According to Gartner, “By 2033, … space computer science will reach 1.7 billion of dollars, compared to $ 110 billion in 2023.”
10. Ambient invisible intelligence
Ambient invisible intelligence refers to the transparent integration of advanced AI and computer technologies in our environment, operating in the background to improve our lives without requiring an active contribution or even a visible presence.
It represents a passage of an explicit interaction with technology (such as using a smartphone or computer that distracts a person) for an implicit and intuitive commitment, where technology becomes a “silent assistant”, responding automatically to our needs.
Ambient invisible intelligence applications include smart houses, health care, workplaces, retail, transport and smart cities.
The technological trends of 2025 paint a painting of a world where the lines between human intelligence and the machine are more and more vague but remarkably complementary. Although these advances bring both excitement and challenges, one thing is clear: the future that we imagine once takes place before our eyes, and it is even more fascinating than we had planned.
