San Antonio, February 04, 2025 (Globe Newswire) – Rackspace technology® (Nasdaq: RXT)One of the main providers of hybrid, multi -oud and IA technology solutions, announced today, working with Munster Technological University (MTU) to reveal Qclud, the first Ireland Quantum Cloud Computing Center on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This revolutionary initiative aims to improve collaborative research and eliminate obstacles to access to cutting -edge quantum calculation technologies.

Created in 2021, MTU operates on six campuses in Southwest Ireland and is at the forefront of national cybersecurity initiatives within the European Union. Qclud has been developed due to MTU’s commitment to democratize access to quantum resources, allowing secure and evolving connectivity to a real quantum computing power for researchers across Ireland. MTU has teamed up with Rackspace Technology on the project because of its expertise in navigation in the future European project of Cloud Science Open (EOSC), which encourages collaboration between commercial service providers and researchers.

“Rackspace has collaborated with MTU to guarantee essential funding to launch QCloud, improving research opportunities in the region,” said DK Sinha, Rackspace Technology, Cloud public president. “We are proud of this achievement because, thanks to QCloud, MTU has established Ireland as a quantum research center, democratizing access to cutting -edge quantum IT resources and promoting the next generation of quantum innovation.”

QCLOUD implementation
Following a successful proposal process facilitated by Rackspace, MTU launched QCloud in February 2024 with funding from the future project EOSC. This innovative platform offers centralized access to quantum IT resources for researchers, facilitating revolutionary work in various fields, including the security of autonomous systems. Thanks to QCLOUD, MTU establishes Ireland as a key player in the quantum research ecosystem, promoting innovation and democratizing access to quantum IT resources.

The collaboration between MTU, Rackspace and AWS technology has led to a complete quantum research environment that includes:

  • A centralized platform offering quantum computer access to eight universities and 13 research institutes
  • AWS Control Tower landing area with a rationalized project management factory
  • Custom quantum cost control board for Amazon Braket using Amazon Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK), Amazon Eventbridge and Amazon Cloudwatch
  • Costs monitoring in real time with automated budget alerts and management systems

“Rackspace collaboration was essential to establish the QCLOUD infrastructure. Their expertise in AWS Technologies was invaluable throughout this process, “said Dr Anila Mjeda, cybersecurity lecturer at MTU. “QCLOUD opens doors to researchers to explore advanced applications while effectively managing costs, allowing real -time monitoring and budget management. With QCloud, researchers can take advantage of real quantum computers, going beyond traditional simulators that are not at the level of real factors like quantum noise. »»

Impact and QCloud vision
Since its creation, Qclud has connected several institutions, supporting 12 startups and 11 major research projects. The platform marks a significant change in the quantum research landscape in Ireland, which allows universities to provide practical experiences with quantum computer science.

“In classic IT, the information is stored in binary code, represented by those and zero,” said Dr. Hazel Murray, Ph.D., cybersecurity lecturer and manager of the QCLOUD project at MTU. “Quantum IT, however, uses quantum particles, where information is coded in the quantum states of electrons or photons, for example. This allows greater exponential flexibility in data representation, unlocking the potential to store and to analyze information beyond the limits of conventional systems.

The University plans to double its research projects during the coming year and welcomes new participants. “This is a remarkable moment for innovation in quantum computer science. We finally see ideas evolving towards commercial and socially beneficial products while exploring new possibilities,” added Murray.
