I have done it for a long time to know that most fans do not care many people like me telling them how to feel or act on subjects close to them that people like me are only looking at from afar. It’s my experience, at least. It is rarely well received. These are almost always wasted words.
So, fans of Kentucky, if you read this, let me go clearly: you should, by all means, treat John Calipari as you wish when he returns to a Rupp arena with closed windows late for the first time Since leaving the United Kingdom after 15 years. Back it or encourage it. Rent it or the couple. Stay silent or be noisy.
It’s totally to you!
I will not use this space to tell Big Blue Nation what to do. But what I’m going to do, because I was asked for a lot this week is to explain how I think Identifier act, and how I think Identifier to want My wife and children to act, if We Were Lifelong Kentucky Fans Inside Rupp Arena Whenna Calipari is introduced to a crowd that Once Adorn Him But Eventually Begged Him to Leave for Arkansas Last April after the Wildcats lost to a mid-major in the first round of the second time in the second time A period of three years.
What would be We TO DO?
Marry Salle it with kindness. We would be applaud.
And, yes, I realize that it probably puts me in a minority among sports fans and what they think of things like that. I understand. It is not lost for me and why I do not have a locked column and loaded and ready to publish when I even hear a British fan say something bad. Seriously, screaming things as noisy as long as you can, if you wish. I will not be offended because it is only sport and I am not here to change the world or save the coach Cal when the world is filled with more important problems and the coach Cal will go well, despite everything.
That’s just that, all week – in a radio program here or a HQ Sports Sports segment – I continued to wonder how I think Kentucky fans will salute Calipari this weekend And How I would salute Calipari this weekend if I was a fan of Kentucky for life. My answer to the first question, at this stage, is that I don’t really know. And, anyway, again, I am happy to leave this to Kentucky fans in the building, and I promise not to think or talk about it or write too much after the fact almost whatever happens.
But the second question?
My answer to the second question, the question on how I would salute Calipari when he is presented if I was a fan of Kentucky for life, is that I would applaud him to show the appreciation for 15 (mainly) large years. At heart, he would never even come to the idea of huer or screaming bad things because, practically speaking, if I was a fan of Kentucky for life, I would consider it as a divorce that I asked – And also that I win.
Again, British fans, you can huer if you wish.
But, like, Why ?
I am really curious.
A person on social networks said that it is simply because Calipari is the opposing coach, and it is a competition, so he must be hué – but it is obviously silly. Clint Sargent was the opposing coach in a competition in Rupp Arena earlier this season. I bet that most Kentucky fans have not even noticed, or even knowledge, until they read it here. So, if you are a fan of the United Kingdom who boos Calipari when he is presented, it is not simply because he is the opposing coach, nor simply because he is the opposing coach of a Rival of the dry, or, at least, this is not an explanation that I am accepted unless you can find me a video of Mike Anderson catching absolute hell in Rupp in February 2019.
If you are a fan of the United Kingdom who boos Calipari, you will do it for another reason than these reasons. And, once again, that’s good. Use, if you want.
But, like, Why?
I have not yet seen anyone offer a great rationalization without more or less simply claim that it is sport and in sport if you are not my friend, you are my enemy, and you are especially My enemy if you were my best friend but you don’t do it anymore.
I mean, that’s good, I suppose.
But if I was a fan of Kentucky for life, a fan of a team, by the way, sitting at No. 8 in the CBS Sports 25 and 1 classification of daily basketball, and a team trained by the man I would vote for the national coach of the year at the momentMark Pope, if I was a fan of that The British program, especially while the Calipari razorbacks are 1 to 6 in the dry and was probably going nowhere, I would choose to consider Calipari as a man who spent 15 of his 65 years on his planet – near A quarter of his life! — Traveling my favorite team at Four Fours, the 2012 national title and many more good memories than bad.
Did it fall at the end? Undeniably, it fell at the end.
So, if you are a fan of Kentucky who reads this, know that I fully understand why you were ready to move on. Me too, I thought that a divorce was the best for all the people involved. But, if you are a fan of Kentucky who reads this, do not forget that, widely speaking, that is what you wanted and what you said to Calipari. You told him to leave. Calipari, I promise you, did not want to leave Kentucky, and it probably broke his heart when he realized that he was better for him and his family to do it. Calipari, I promise you, I have always planned to win another national championship in Kentucky, retiring at Kentucky and out of matches in Kentucky while being encountered by standing ovations every time.
So it must be weird for him.
It should be weird for everyone.

And, if you remove sports and think about a human point of view, it’s really a little sad. Yes, John Calipari has more money than most of us could never dream realistically, and his life will probably be fine, no matter how Kentucky fans welcome him during his first return to Rupp since his departure. But, that has recognized, if you are a fan of Kentucky who reads this, know that you have the power to make good memory for a person who gave you everything he had for 15 years and created a lot of the best Sports moments that you have already experienced. Or you can make a bad memory for this same person.
Again, do what you want.
It’s up to you.
But, I’m pretty sure, I know what I would do if I were you.
