Anthony chemo cited as an expert to find out if technology contributes to brain rot

The article indicates that even if it seems that the common sense that brain function would decrease by exposure and dependence on technology – from mobile phones to smart cars – there is no final research pointing to the Improvement of the function of the brain function by technology or decrease, the latter of which is called in popular culture such as brain rot.

“During the history of hominids, many of our greatest challenges have involved adapting to new types of environments – and it’s intelligent. This is only a new environment in which we are, ”explains Anthony Chemro, professor of philosophy and Psychology of the UC, in the article.

Chemino has largely written about how technology allows the mind to make room for new information: “Technology can change cognition without necessarily harming it.”

An example he often quotes is the way people no longer need to memorize phone numbers because this information is now stored in their mobile phones.

“What we really want about technology is to do difficult and boring things, like many complex calculations, memorization by heart: humans are simply not very good without technology.”
