The Sy Syms business school launched six concentrations in its online MBA program:
- Commercial analysis: Teams decision -making skills based on data, covering advanced subjects such as exploration of data, visualization and predictive, crucial analysis to understand market trends and strategies optimization.
- Marketing: Prepares graduates for digital and traditional marketing marketing environments, emphasizing modern marketing techniques, the use of AI, sustainable practices and consumer behavior.
- Accounting: Includes specialized areas such as accounting ethics, information systems and contemporary accounting subjects, offering students skills to manage complex financial reports and ethical considerations in the middle of the business.
- Real estate: Meets the growing demand for qualified professionals in real estate investments and planning. Provides expertise in real estate financing, urban development and sustainable development.
- Entrepreneurship and Strategy: Focuses on changing change, crisis management and negotiations, as well as the international exhibition on businesses, which makes it ideal for those looking for management positions or the start of their own companies.
- Finance: Covers entrepreneurial funding, business financing and investments, equipping students with tools to navigate business and entrepreneurial challenges, to mitigate financial risks and identify and take advantage of opportunities.
The concentration process began in May 2023 with the launch of concentration in real estate development, followed by the development of remaining concentrations at the beginning of 2024. Dr Tamar Avnet, director of the MBA program, and Dr Linda Driver, Executive Director of Programs of Higher studies, has collaborated with teachers in each concentration disciplines to identify courses that would provide a solid base in specific fields. Michele Nicosia, director of curriculum and accreditation, joined forces with Dr. Driver to develop the proposal and support documents required by the New York State Education Department. The proposal was submitted in August 2024 with approval received the following month.
“The concentrations offered by the Syms School of Business online MBA program considerably reinforce its value by addressing various career paths and sought -after commercial skills,” said Dr. Driver. “Students can acquire skills that allow them to manage throughout the business while diving more deeply in a specific area of interest.”
