VCU vs Saint Louis: a great fight broke out between the fans, delaying the university basketball match

A great fight that seemed to involve at least a dozen fans broke out in a man university basketball play between Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Saint Louis Tuesday, causing the game stopping for a number of minutes.

With Saint Louis leading 69-63 and 1:10 to play, a fight in Chaifetz Arena in Missouri landed on rows of seats and on the ground near the VCU bench. We do not know what caused the breakdown of the fight.

Security and the police quickly rushed to try to break it, while the players on the field stayed in their stories. CBS sports cover also picked up other fans who apparently flow those involved in the fight.

VCU made no comments on the incident. CNN also contacted Saint-Louis University to comment.

Images captured by Affilié CNN KSDK News seemed to show an older man emerging from the fray with blood on his face and his neck.

The game finally resumed after about seven minutes, according to The Associated PressAnd the Billikens filled their 78-69 victory against the Rams.

Gibson Jimerson de Saint Louis accumulated a 26 -point summit, completed by Kobe Johnson marking 19 with six rebounds, and Robbie Avila adding 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Phillip Russell and Zeb Jackson each scored 15 for VCU.

We do not know what led the fight to break out at Chaifetz Arena.

During his post-match press conference, Billikens head coach Josh Schertz chose to focus on the positive energy brought by fans.

“Our guys fed on the energy of the crowd. They were there. They sometimes raised us when we were tired. The students were great, ” He said. “We do not cross this game without them.”

The victory – the fifth of Saint Louis at home – stops the sequence of six consecutive victories of VCU and attracts the level of Billikens with the Rams in second place of the Atlantic conference 10 (A -10), behind George Mason .

After having already played once this season before Tuesday – a 78-62 victory for VCU on January 14 – The teams can only meet this season if they do it in the A -10 conference tournament in March.
