The 49ers awarded off the coast of Receiver Deebo Samuel and his agent, Tory Dandy, permission to find a trading partner, said Samuel to Adam Schefter de Espn.
Samuel asked the 49ers to exchange it during the players’ release meetings after the season.
“It was a difficult conversation to have with Kyle (Shanahan) because of the relationship we have,” Samuel told Schefter. “But I have to do what is best. I am more than grateful for the Niners who have given me the opportunity of a life, but now I think it is better to find another team. “”
Samuel should win $ 17.55 million in 2025, the last year of a contract extension of $ 71.55 million over three years.
He expressed his frustration during the 2024 season when he only made 51 catches for 670 yards and three affected.
His departure during the offseason always seemed a lost conclusion after the 49ers gave Brandon Aiyuk an extension and written Ricky Pearsall in the first round.
Now comes the question of what the 49ers can get for Samuel.
Samuel has just been 29, but he has never played a full season. He appeared in 16 games in 2021 when he led the NFL with an average of 18.2 yards per capture and made his only pro bowl.
Rams also seek to exchange the Large Cooper Kupp receiver this offseason.
