Every June 29, we remember the sacrifice that Joe Delaney has made. Each June 29, we hear people who had not heard of Joe Delaney’s sacrifice.

June 29, 1983. DELANEY, aged 24 and two after her career in the NFL, gave his life while trying to save three children from drowning.
The children struggled in an artificial pond in Monroe, Louisiana. Delaney did not hesitate to help.

He was one of the brilliant young stars of the League. The choice of second round of the state of the northwest rushed to 1,121 yards as a recruit in 1981, giving Kansas City its first victories record since 1973.
An eye injury and a strike on 57 days limited its production in 1982, but the future remained brilliant for Delaney. However, he did not think twice when he saw three young foreigners who really needed his help.
Delaney left her own young girls. Although tragic for all those involved, it was an act of rare and extreme heroism. He should never be forgotten.
The name of Joe Delaney lies in the Ring of Honor at the Arrowhead stadium. We cannot control what NFL or others may or may not do to properly preserve its memory. As long as our lights are lit and our doors are open, every June 29 will be devoted to remembering Joe Delaney.
And, every June 29, a new set of football fans will learn for the first time its sacrifice.
