HAMPTON, Georgia – While the NASCAR CUP series will reach the middle of the 36 races season this evening at Echopark Speedway, 23X Racing continues to seek its first victory of the season.
“I just know the resources we have carried out at 23X and all our drivers should win,” said co -owner Denny Hamlin at Echopark Speedway. “This is the expectation that I obviously. Obviously, it is a company based on the results, and if you do not do it over time, you consider your options.”
The totals of the organizational season are down from that time a year ago.
Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace and Riley Herbst combined for six top-five, 11 results among the first 10 and 197 laps have led this year.
Last year, Reddick and Wallace combined for a victory, nine top-five finishes, 15 top 10s and 375 rpm led.
Reddick has the last victory of the organization, taking the checkered flag 19 races in Homestead in the playoffs last year. Wallace is without victory during its last 96 departures, going back to Kansas in September 2022.
The three racing cars 23Xi had brake rotor problems last weekend in Pocono. This led Herbst and Wallace crashing. Reddick was called briefly in the garage to examine its set of brakes.
“Without being too deep with it, it was a team surveillance,” said Hamlin. “If it is – simply too aggressive. I don’t know how to say it. They knew what they had, but they did not think of the implications of what they were doing wise.”
It did a difficult weekend for Wallace. He was the second quick in practice but never had the chance to qualify when his car did not start.
“We were really fast,” said Wallace. “The confidence to get out of the car training car, had not had that for a very long time. So, just so that I can climb (Crew Chef) Charles (Denike) is like, “hey, the car does not start”. … We could not qualify.
“It was like a punch. It was really difficult to swallow it. Yes, it is qualified but it doesn’t matter. But it brought me back a few years ago where it is as if we are going. You go up on the momentum and I am excited and that you have a little optimism, then you were just struck in the face with BS. I woke up on Sunday, it was a new day.”
Wallace started at the rear, then crashed into the race due to the brake rotor problem.
“… In short, it was a frustrating week,” said Wallace, “super frustrating Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.”
Wallace said his state of mind changed during a golf sponsor release on Thursday.
“I had a lot of fun and I was able to escape a little race and it helped,” he said. “But we’re back on the track, so I have to continue to say it, a new low set. You can’t change the past. Focus on what awaits us.”
Although there were challenges, Hamlin said he saw progress with Wallace and his team.
“I saw enough progress, in particular, from the point of view of the 23rd, which I can see where it can go,” said Hamlin about the Wallace team. “Obviously, putting yourself in the eliminatory position year after year is good, but winning makes it better. It makes him good for the team; This makes it good for your sponsorships.
“The progression is smaller, but it always happens with Riley (Herbst) too. We started at the bottom of the cellar, and it improves slowly but surely a little.
“This is what I consider as owner, but certainly, I need that all my cars win at some point. There are simply too many resources, too many good people there so as not to win more races, and certainly, I think that we have underperformed with regard to victory this year.
