Scientists say they have discovered two potentially raging gold deposits of 1,000 tonnes in the center and northeast of China, and other discoveries could be useful with the use of advanced exploration technology.

If it is proven, these deposits could be among the most important in the world and even exceed the largest gold deposit known in South Africa.

China is the world’s largest producer of gold ore, reaching a production of 377 tonnes last year, according to China Gold Association. While China retains first place in gold production, it is behind countries like South Africa, Australia and Russia Proven gold mine reserves.
