The SEA to Sky Highway reopened the south of Whistler, British Columbia, following a multi-vehicle accident on Wednesday morning.
British Columbia’s emergency health services said 10 people had been transported to hospital after the accident.
“Five ambulances with paramedical paramedics of primary care responded to the scene,” said Brehs, Brian Twail.
“Paramedical paramedics have provided emergency medical treatment to 10 patients in total. Two patients were transported by ambulances on the ground to meet air ambulance helicopters, then transported to hospital in critical condition under the care of the paramedical paramedics of intensive care. Eight additional patients were transported to hospital in a stable state by ambulance on the ground. »»

Nicole Eastman was on the way to Whistler and was about 20 minutes when traffic stopped.
“I stopped and after waiting for a while and realized that traffic was not moving, I got out of my car and myself, then another woman decided to go down and see what was going on,” Eastman told Global News.

“And it was then that I saw the scene of the accident – it seemed that it did not happen too long ago. Emergency services were helping vehicles when we walked. »»
She said that one of the vehicles, a passenger van, was for her part and that it seemed that there were several passengers inside, all helped through the windshield.
“The emergency services have in fact seated them in private vehicles from other people nearby, just to warm up,” added Eastman.
“I saw a person in the car who seemed to be in shock, and another person walk and after, you know, I took a look and I left to respect everyone’s intimacy.”
The highway was closed between Callaghan Valley Road and Brew Creek Road and traffic was blocked in both directions, according to Drive BC.
Eastman said that she understood that the roads must be closed for the first speakers, but it was frustrating how long the road was closed.
“Most of the incident was contained in the path in southern direction, and there was enough space for a traffic route could have crossed,” she said. “If really frustrating that they could not leave at least one way and some vehicles go along the side while the investigation occurred.”
